Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Avhaar wants everyone to be able to use our website and our toilet reporting platform, including people who use keyboards, screen readers, magnification or other assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and to follow the accessibility requirements that apply to Indian public-facing digital services.

What we do

  • Every image has a text alternative, or is marked as decoration.
  • All pages can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to main content" link.
  • Pop-up windows keep keyboard focus inside while open and return it when closed.
  • Text meets minimum colour-contrast ratios, and pages work at phone and desktop sizes and with text zoomed.
  • Form fields have labels, and error messages are written in plain language.
  • The toilet platform is available in English, Hindi and Marathi.
  • Motion is minimal and is switched off if your device asks for reduced motion.

How we check

We test with automated accessibility tools and by navigating with the keyboard only. We have not yet had an independent audit or testing with a wide range of screen readers. We are partially conformant: the website and the toilet platform's landing page pass our automated checks, and we are improving the toilet platform's signed-in screens (for example, connecting every form label to its field, and making every report card reachable by keyboard).

Known limitations

  • Some signed-in screens of the toilet platform do not yet meet every success criterion. We are working through them.
  • Photos uploaded by citizens come with the descriptions they write, which may be brief.

Tell us about a problem

If something is hard to use, email rohanmishra2823@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp at +91 93090 25463. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what technology you use. We aim to reply within five working days and to fix reported issues promptly.
